Khechari Mudra – “The Secret Spot”
Hi everyone, this is the first time that I post in this forum.
I have some questions about khechari mudra! And i’ll be very grateful for all your answers.
I can reach every place in the nasal pharynx cavity, so I can put the tip of my tongue in the edge of the septum and when I do that, its feels very sensitive and make me sneeze, also I dont feel this pleasure or bliss, that I read everywhere, its more uncomfortable. So, is this natural? I have to get used to? Or its a purification process?
Thanks for all your answers, and sorry for my english Im from Argentina

What you describe is completely natural.
Sneezing in particular has happened to me at a very few different sensitive spots, and each time that reaction fades with time. Another issue I have had – especially in stage 4 – is a runny nose!
It definitely does take time for the nervous system to open-up to those blissful feelings, and there is usually a purification process involved. In particular, you may touch a part of the nasopharynx with your tongue, and suddenly have twitching of a muscle in some other part of the body. This is generally considered a great sign, and often an indicator of purification (kriya).
I can share a few practical tips for a more pleasant kechari experience:
- Neti cleaning of the nasal passages – which can also be accomplished by swimming in the ocean and doing a few somersaults
- Brushing your teeth an hour before doing kechari
- Drinking enough water an water before kechari – so that you are properly hydrated
- Lighting some incense or a scented candle during your practice – to stimulate those good-feeling nose sensations
